Prep Time:5 minutes

Chill Time: 1 hour

Cook Time: 7-12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon yellow food coloring
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

"Three-in-One" cookies have one purpose–to satisfy your families sweet tooth.

Directions:

Cream together the shortening and butter, sugar, egg, almond extract, vanilla extract and food coloring until fluffy. In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Add dry mixture to creamed mixture. Chill for at least 1 hr.

Treat Time:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Give each family member 3 tsp. size balls of cookie dough. Roll each ball of dough in granulated sugar and then roll each into a 5 inch strip. Place the three separate strips side by side and lightly twist together to form a single rope. Bake 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.

“The true doctrine of the Godhead was lost in the apostasy that followed the Savior’s mortal ministry and the deaths of His Apostles. This doctrine began to be restored when 14-year-old Joseph Smith received his First Vision (see Joseph Smith—History 1:17). From the Prophet’s account of the First Vision and from his other teachings, we know that the members of the Godhead are three separate beings. The Father and the Son have tangible bodies of flesh and bones, and the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit (see D&C 130:22).” True to the Faith (2004) © Intellectual Reserve, Inc.
